Chris Fedler, Graduate Student Intern

Life can feel challenging at times. We all face difficulties both from within ourselves and from the world around us, and that can feel overwhelming. The coping strategies that once served us well sometimes lose their effectiveness as our circumstances change. My goal as a counselor is to create a space where we can explore what is—and is no longer—working for you. I believe that personal growth begins with curiosity and compassion for ourselves, and that meaningful change happens when we feel safe, supported, and understood.

I am currently training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) under supervision at Oregon City Counseling and work with adults navigating:

• Life transitions (career changes, returning to school, relationships, grief & loss)

 • LGBTQIA2S+ identity-affirming work

• Anxiety

• Depression

Professional Background
I am earning my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bradley University and hold a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Portland State University. Before beginning my counseling journey, I worked in healthcare and public health. Those experiences shaped how I understand mental health as part of a broader system – one influenced by environment, relationships, and access to care. My approach is also informed by my own ongoing process of personal recovery and transformation, which helps me connect with clients who are facing change, uncertainty, and the work of rebuilding.

Personal Life

I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and have lived back and forth between Oregon and Hawaii as an adult. I am happy to be settling back down in Oregon permanently. My never-ending list of hobbies includes:

  • Pottery

  • Baking

  • Gardening

  • Backpacking

  • Keeping my dogs entertained

  • Learning to ski for the first time this winter

As a Student Intern, Chris accepts OHP through Health Share/Care Oregon or Self-Pay on a reduced-rate sliding scale ($10 to $50 per session) and sees clients as openings occur.
