Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Oregon City Counseling uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for the bulk of its individual work. It is where scientific rigor meets the healing care of therapy. Having been researched since the 1960s when it was introduced by Aaron Beck. It has decades of research demonstrating an effective form of psychotherapy. It is particularly helpful for depression and anxiety, though it is used for a wide variety of mental health concerns (see the Mayo Clinic link below for a full list).

Slade Wolf was trained in CBT as a drug and alcohol counselor--over 20 years ago. Slade furthered his learning in its use and techniques during his graduate studies at University of Washington. Since that time he has used it extensively in therapy and behavioral interventions. Slade continues to attend trainings, graduate courses, and does his own reading to keep his skills in CBT sharp and up to date.
