Professional Life
I am passionate about working with people to live their best life possible. My work is rooted in the belief of the inherent worth and respect for all persons. I see clients as the experts on their own lives, and my role is to walk alongside you, helping to gently untangle the knots and work toward a happier, healthier, and better-functioning life.
I started at community college and earned a Bachelor of Liberal Studies from California State University, Stanislaus. After teaching elementary school and English as a foreign language, I returned to school to earn a Master of Social Work from Walden University (2021).
I draw from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), integrating Motivational Interviewing (MI) as appropriate. I practice from an anti-oppressive lens, acknowledging the systemic factors that shape people’s lives and I hold space for each person’s full identity and lived experience.
As a queer, enby, neurodivergent Muslim convert, I am committed to providing an affirming and inclusive space for clients. I am kink and poly friendly and aligned with the Health at Every Size (HAES) approach.
I treat anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ concerns, and chronic mental and physical health conditions.
Please note:
I do not work with clients who have active eating disorders, as I am in recovery.
I live with chronic health challenges like many of my clients and therefore I both ask for and offer grace and flexibility when unexpected scheduling changes arise.
Personal Life
Outside of work, I can often be found playing with my three dogs, reading Jane Austen fanfiction, or playing Dungeons & Dragons with my spouse.
As an Associate, Ren participates in all of our Accepted Insurance Plans and sees clients as openings occur.
