Finding a Fit

Finding the right therapist for you is one of the most important things you can do to make your therapy get you the results you want. A good place to start is to find a therapist who is trained in the type of therapy that best fits your needs. You can find a complete list of evidence based therapies with what they best treat here: https://div12.org/treatments/

Next, try therapists on for size. You should have a good sense within the first three sessions with a therapist whether they are going to be able to help you or not. If it doesn’t feel like a good fit, don’t persist with that clinician, just try another one. This is difficult and time consuming, but worth it to get the outcome you are looking for. Ultimately, it will be the quickest way to get results. After three sessions, if you would like to try another therapist, you can share that with your therapist directly or you can contact J Geurts via email: j.geurts@orcitycounseling.com or phone: 971-334-9380 (call or text).
