Henry Hawking, Graduate Student Intern

Professional Life

Hey! I’m Henry.

Prior to beginning my training as a therapist, I worked in special education, first as a paraeducator, and later as a substitute teacher. These experiences have brought me to my current role with a deep belief in the transformative power of relationships, and the human ability to improve our lives and situations.

My primary experience and interest is in working with youth, and I see clients between the ages of 5 and 15. I work with clients on a range of issues, I also focus on working with youth in the following areas:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Life Transitions

  • Traumatic recovery

As an intern with Oregon City Counseling, I am building skills in evidence informed practices. These include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for teens

  • Play Therapy

Personal Life

I was born in Portland, and raised in both Portland and the Puget Sound region. I love to spend my time exploring the Northwest, cooking with my family and friends, playing guitar, and reading anything I can get my hands on. I truly love working with humans, and have always balanced that with a passion for working with my hands. I love finding new ways to express that passion, and am currently working on several renovation projects in my childhood home.

As a Student Intern, Henry accepts OHP through Open Card, Trillium CCO, and Yamhill CCO. Henry can also see Self-Pay clients on a reduced-rate sliding scale ($10 to $50 per session).
