Kristin Guelsdorf, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

she/her

The life of a child and adolescent, and therefore a caregiver, has grown increasingly complicated.  I have spent over twenty years of my career working in schools as a teacher and social worker, and over a decade as a child and adolescent therapist.  I have witnessed the challenges facing kids, teens, and caregivers in various settings.  I know firsthand it is possible to build skills and develop strong relationships that foster growth and resilience.

My goal as a clinician is to provide a welcoming and safe environment so that children and adolescents may be themselves and make forward movement in developing behavioral and emotional parts of themselves.

Professional Life

I earned my Master in Social Work degree at San Diego State University in 1993. Prior to completing my MSW, I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Oregon. I have an extensive background working with children and adolescents in various settings:

  • Social Work Intern at Children's Hospital San Diego for victims of sexual abuse

  • Family/Individual therapist at a youth residential treatment center.

  • Provider of child/adolescent individual and family therapy in an outpatient setting

  • Provider of in-home child and family therapy for a Family Preservation Program

  • Teacher in a Behavior Support Classroom

  • Learning Specialist in the elementary and middle school levels

  • Social Worker in both the Oregon City and Lake Oswego School Districts

I have interest and experience with children and teens in the following areas:

  • Trauma

  • Anxiety and/or Depression

  • School Adjustment

  • Behavior

  • Self-esteem

  • Grief and Loss

I am also a certified Autplay therapist.

Personal Life

Born in Milwaukie, Oregon, I have lived in Maryland, Alaska, Colorado, California, and Arizona. These experiences allowed me to appreciate all that Oregon has to offer. I have lived in Oregon City with my husband, three daughters, and dogs since 2005.

Outside of working with children and teens Kristin enjoys:

  • Running/exercising

  • Hiking/backpacking

  • Gardening/yard work

  • Reading

  • Traveling when the opportunity exists

  • Spending time with her family, which includes the dogs

As a Licensed provider, Kristin supervises some Associates at Oregon City Counseling, participates in some of our Accepted Insurance Plans, and sees clients as openings occur.
